Burundi’s President Ndayishimiye coming to Tanzania on three-day state visit

Burundi’s President Evariste Ndayimiye is expected in Tanzania on a three-day official visit from Friday, October 22, 2021, Tanzania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and East Africa Cooperation, Ambassador Liberata Mulamula said.

Speaking to journalists in Dodoma today on 20th October 2021 Mulamula said President Ndayishimiye will have talks with his host President Samia at state house in Dodoma soon as he arrives in the country.

Ambassador Mulamula said the overall purpose of the visit was to strengthen ties between the two neighbouring countries.

“Upon his arrival, Burundi President Evariste Ndaishimiye will be welcomed by his host, President Samia Suluhu Hassan at Chamwino State House in Dodoma,” the Minister said.

Announcing the schedule of events during President Ndaishimiye’s visit to Tanzania on 22 October 2021, the Foreign Affairs Minister said: “At 10.30am President Ndaishimiye will meet his host, President Samia Suluhu Hassan, at Chamwino.”

She added, “On October 22, afternoon- President Ndayishimiye will lay a foundation stone for the construction of fertiliser plant owned by Burundi based Itracom Fertiliser Limited plant at Nala Industrial area in Dodoma.”

“October 23, 2021- President Ndayishimiye will travel to Zanzibar where he will hold a talk with his host President Hussein Ali Mwinyi, the same day on October 23, 2021; President will return to Dar es Salaam where he will meet President Samia.”

The Minister further said: “On October 23, 2021; President Ndayishimiye will visit the Dar es Salaam Port to inspect the ongoing construction of Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) from Dar es Salaam Station to Kwala – Ruvu dry port in Coast Region. And on October 24, 2021; the Burundi Delegation leaving the country.”
