Tanga Cement has emerged as the overall winner of The President’s Manufacturer of the Year Awards Giving Ceremony (PMAYA) 2020 organized by the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI).
CTI selects winners basing on various criteria, including business performance, technological performance, export performance, environmental management and occupational health safety.
Over seventy-Seven companies participated in the 15th PMAYA 2020 scheduled Friday at the Dar es Salaam based Serena Hotel.
The event which aims at recognizing companies’ contribution to the nation’s economy, was graced by the United Republic’s Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango on behalf of president Samia Suluhu Hassan.
Vice President who was the guest of honour at the PMAYA, urged the Ministry of Industry and Trade to team up with the CTI to solve all challenges that are hindering the industrial sector to prosper.
The VP has also urged the Federation to collaborate with the government and utilize the Tanzanian Ambassadors in finding more markets for the local products.
“I urge Tanzanians to use locally produced products in order to continue promoting our local industries as well as creating more jobs for Tanzanians,” the Vice President said.
On his part, the Confederation’s Chairman Paul Makanza thanked the sixth phase government for quickly resolving the challenges that facing the country’s manufacturing sector including tax collection and obtaining work permits from foreign experts and many more.
Speaking earlier, Industry and Trade Minister Prof Kitila Mkumbo told manufacturers that the government will continue taking various steps to improve the manufacturing sector.
