Tanzania: Women empowering programme eyes unexploited areas

TANZANIA government will continue working hard to empower women in various fields including politics and economic activities to spearhead their welfare.

The statement was made by Mwajuma Magwiza, Director for Gender development, Ministry of Health, Community development, Gender, Elderly and Children, when she was informing of what happened during the third women meeting at Saint Petersburg, Russia, recently.

A two-day meeting was held from 13 October to 15 October of this year, attended by Dr Doroth Gwajima, minister of Health, representing President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Magwiza,who accompanied the minister, said Tanzania has learnt that women, when empowered are able to engage in various economic activities, growing to the level of creating job opportunities for others.

She said, Tanzania women are encouraged in industrial economic participation and the meeting has come up with areas that are not fully exploited to be ‘green pastures’, where can enter in and become successful.

She named the areas to be Arts and drama, beauty pageants, and sports and games.

She further, said that the implementations  in districts and regional levels is underway,and,”What we emphasize is the authorities in the particular place,to continue creating conducive environment for businesses to flourish”,said Magwiza.
